Fishing

Fresh water fishing is available all around Rosedale Safaris. Rock and Surf fishing is only about 30 minutes away from the lodge at the beautiful, untouched beach of Kasouga. Deep-sea fishing can be arranged in nearby Port Alfred.

Hiking

The Oldenburgia Hiking Trail, which is only 10 minutes from La Boma Lodge, covers an area of 15,000 acres and provides the hiker with a variety of interesting sights, sounds, and wildlife.

Photography

Photographical safaris are always welcomed to guests with opportunities of viewing The Big Five amongst a plethora of other species. Day trips to the world-renowned Addo Elephant Park are also available. Drives Game drives and night viewings can be arranged on request with potential to sight rhinos, lions, cape buffalo, hippo, giraffe, nocturnal species and many more!

Elephant Rides

Have the time of your life while riding on elephants! Elephant rides and game drives only about 25 minutes away from the lodge.

Helicopter Tours

Get a chance to look at game life from a different perspective. Helicopter flights are only 10 minutes away from lodge, viewing a variety of wildlife and can be arranged on request.

Historical Sites

Grahamstown, one of the first settlements in South Africa, is home to the 1820 Settlers Monument which provides information about historical buildings and stories about the settlers. View famous historic forts originally positioned along the banks of the Great Fish River acting as early warning signals and barriers to raiding Xhosa tribes.

 

Garden Route Tour

The garden route tour is one of the most popular tours in South Africa.

DAY 1: The route will start from the Rockwood Lodge. The first stop will be an hour away at Addo Elephant Park. Hundreds of animals can be viewed here including the Big 5. From there we head to Port Elizabeth where we will spend the night.

DAY 2: From Port Elizabeth we will go along the scenic route, where we will visit Monkeyland, the world’s highest Bungee Jump, zip lining, and a rain forest of Tsitsikamma. We will spend the evening in the resort port of Knysna.

Day 3: We will start the day by going on a ferry ride to a scenic hike overlooking the Indian Ocean. This pleasant hike is minimally challenging and has beautiful areas for great photos. The rest of the afternoon is spent touring the scenic town of Knysna.

DAY 4: The tour goes on towards the city of George, going through the fertile area of lush greenery at the foot of the Outeniqua mountains. Oudtshoorn “Capital of the Klein Karoo” is set in a semi-arid valley providing the ideal habitat for ostriches, which are farmed here on a grand scale. An important geological feature is the Cango Caves, a series of caverns and chambers naturally hewn out of limestone, situated outside the city of Oudtshoorn. The Cango Caves are among the top ten most visited attractions in South Africa. Driving back from the Cango Caves we will be visiting the Cheetah Farm, Here you will have the opportunity to touch the wild cats of Africa. We will spend that night in Oudtshoorn.

DAY 5: The next morning we will drive to the wine growing areas of Stellenbosch and Paarl where we will partake in a wine tour/tasting.

DAY 6: We will be touring up the great Table Mountain. In the afternoon we will be going to the Cape Town Castle and afterwards we will view the habitat Antartica penguins at Boulders Beach.

DAY 7: Great White shark diving is about an hour and a half from Cape Town. As an alternative, we can tour the great Robbin Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for almost 27 years.

DAY 8: Before departure from Cape Town International Airport, we will be touring the city of Cape Town at the Waterfront, where there are curious shops for all those shoppers.
